Guide
Welcome to BBQ with Beer - your one stop spot for instructions on how to time your BBQ’ing while drinking your beer. Why use timers and thermometers when you have everything you need in the drink you are going to enjoy anyway?
This guide will help you create perfect cooks while making sure you get enough time to drink and enjoy your beer. After all, what good is a BBQ if you can’t escape outside and relax and have a few wobbly pops?
Before you get started, it may be helpful to get a little context on my current setup (it’s all relative, after all).
The Grill
I have a Napoleon Prestige P500 2012 model BBQ with stainless steel grills and a rotisserie attachment. It heats up like the Devil eating hot wings, but it can also hold its heat at lower temperatures to get a good slow cook on. I think a squirrel may live in the cabinet.
The Pace
I am over 35 years old, and father to three boys. If that isn’t self explanatory, then allow me to elaborate:
- I can’t drink like a frat-boy anymore.
- I can’t just kick back in the afternoon and enjoy a sixer of my preferred beverage.
- Three boys make me awful thirsty.
- One must always capitalize on their chances.
So what that means is, basically, I’ll finish a standard 341ml beer in 15 to 20 minutes. A couple swigs will take between 30s and 2m, depending on how fast the food is cooking (i.e., how hot the grill is) and how thirsty I am.
The Bottom Line
The point in BBQ’ing with Beer is to relax and enjoy the cooking, the beer, the outside air, and if you are lucky, the sunshine.
If you drink faster then me - good for you! If you drink slower then me - for at least you’re drinkin’!
Adjust your pace accordingly and enjoy your art.
